How I like to teach

I teach public policy and public management, and quantitative research methods to social science students. I teach public policy and management across all levels, including supervising research students, taught masters and undergraduates.

Postgraduate public administration at the 欧美性爱片 provides a rich environment for comparing and contrasting themes and practices from all over the world while learning from each other.

At undergraduate level, in addition to lecturing to large groups, I enjoy teaching and encouraging students to make the most of the excellent opportunities at this university to learn applied statistical analysis methods using state-of-the-art computer systems. I like to use clear and interactive communication, alongside a range of presentation and online methods. The aim is to ensure students who are anxious about statistics have an opportunity to regularly revisit and rehearse what they have learnt in order to build their confidence.

My research interests

I am influenced by interdisciplinary approaches to public policy and management and the application of complexity theory to the applied social sciences. I am ambitious to link scientific theory with the imperatives of practice. I use innovative and mixed quantitative methods to try and find the best models and arguments for understanding the contemporary and complex public policy world. I also research ‘soft’ systems approaches to management practice.
